Portraits and Headshots
For me, making an image of a person, regardless of whether it’s a portrait or headshot, requires a meaningful connection between the photographer and the subject. I want to capture the essence of that person, not just their facial features or what they’re wearing and that takes feeling along with technical know-how. As a result, I have never done assembly line photography—shooting headshots or portraits one after another. It doesn’t give me time to relate to an individual, a couple or a family. Passion first money second. I suspect that’s why I’m not rich, but I’m a good photographer and people I photograph have an enjoyable time; and that’s important for me as I capture a moment of time in their lives they will never live again—but will be there for them to enjoy forever.
